The old saying "the name is half the game" is still true in the era of digital technology. The website name to appear in the address bar should be as short as possible, but at the same time it should be easy to remember.

There are a number of factors to be considered here:
- Name length – the shorter the name, the better. For example, if you are creating a website of OJSC Repair and Mechanical Plant (Remontno-Mekhanichesky Zavod) “Leningradslanets” www.lenslanec.ru is a much better name than www.zavodleningradslanec.ru.
- Ease of replication – the name should be easy to enter from a keyboard on hearing. Let’s suppose you want to tell your potential customer about the company. And you say something like: “There is a reliable dealer of metal structures – their website is baltrade dot ru.” What name should the person enter: balttreid.ru, balttrade.ru, or balt-trade.ru?
- Domain – shown by the website ending – .ru, .com, .spb.ru etc. If the company targets Russian speakers then .ru zone should be the first choice. Although .spb.ru makes the website address longer it clearly places the company in the city of St. Petersburg. If the website is created for an international audience you should consider the .com zone as the domain of preference.
It often makes sense to register several “sibling” names in order to forward the customer to the website even on entering a wrong address.
We can help you choose the most appropriate name for your website.
